What You Need to Do Should a Filling Ever Come LooseTooth damage is one of the most common problems people have. The damage can be as a result of an accident, the type of food we eat and more so our oral health habits. When you have great teeth, then there is little to no assistance needed for support, among other stuff.

However, when the tooth has problems such as tooth decay, breakages, and so on, you will need some fillings to get your tooth functionality and looks back to where they were. Since fillings help in restoring the tooth's integrity, they help by covering the places where germs and bacteria can hide and do more harm to the tooth.

How To Handle Loose Fillings

Fillings are made from a variety of materials. Essentially, you can get your fillings to be made from porcelain, gold, a composite resin, and various amalgams. These filings are firm, but due to one reason or the other, they tend to get loose or fall out. One of the reasons why they might fall out is biting on hard foods that either break the filling or loosen it up. Another reason is when there is further decay that has formed around the filling. Over time the fillings will weaken and even come loose.

When the filling comes loose or even falls out, the first thing you should do is place that small piece of the tooth in a safe place. Next, you should make an appointment with us as soon as you possibly can. While this is not a life and death incident, time is of the essence as the place the filling was covering is likely exposed. If there is too much pain, then apply some clove oil to soothe the pain.

When you make an appointment with us, our doctor will run some tests and then take the appropriate measures. Be it replacing the filling or placing it back where it was; you can be assured of the best care with us.

If you have any issues regarding tooth fillings, then we are the ones you should see immediately.
