What are Opalescence Custom Trays?
Opalescence custom trays are a professional tooth whitening system that enables you to whiten your teeth from the comfort of your own home. They are available in four different concentrations and three different flavors. We provide you with trays that are made from impressions of your mouth and the whitening gel that will help you to achieve your desired results. The trays can then be worn for as little as 15 minutes a day or overnight while you are sleeping.
How Do Opalescence Custom Trays Work?
To use Opalescence custom trays, we first need to take impressions of your mouth. This will allow us to create trays that will fit properly in your mouth. The trays should be loaded by applying a continuous bead of gel from one side of the tray to the other. The total amount used should be about half of the syringe. Next, place the trays over your teeth. Apply gentle pressure to move the gel into place and remove any excess gel with a soft toothbrush. Avoid pressing too hard, as this will remove too much gel, and your results will not be as effective.
The exact length of your treatment is based on the severity of your discoloration and your treatment goals. Based on a consultation, we will be able to advise you how long your trays should be used to help you achieve optimal whitening results.
Cleaning Your Custom Trays
After removing your trays, it is important that you clean them properly. Run the trays under cool tap water and brush them gently with a soft-bristled toothbrush. You will be provided with a protective case when you receive your custom trays. Store the trays in this case and place them in a safe location away from small hands and pets. They will be all ready to go for your next application the next day.
Is Opalescence Safe?
Opalescence custom trays are very safe. The whitening gel is thick and sticky and will not leak out of the trays onto your gums. This helps to avoid the irritation of these sensitive tissues. The whitening gel also contains potassium nitrate and fluoride, both of which will help to protect your teeth from cavities as well as sensitivity. We will provide you with instructions for use before you leave the office, which will help you to apply your whitening gel in the safest, most effective manner possible.
